windows 7 recording

I recently upgraded to Win7 and now I can't record sound. I previously used 'what-u-hear' with SB Audigy soundcard. That feature is no longer available. I have read the previous posts and followed instructions without success. i got updated drivers from Creatives website but found that I had better ones anyway (updates sent after registering new MP3 player). While 'what-u-hear isn't available stereo mix is. I've enabled this but still can't record.

have you more than one soundcard if so have you selected the required one for recording in whatever editing /recording programme you are using also might try Audacity its freelink text

Only one soundcard. SB is set as default. Have tried several programs, even WIndows own recording device doesn't work. Beginning to wonder if my leads may be at fault.
