The Firefox spellchecker will be the death of Firefox on my PC

Although I haven't applied any add-ons, Firefox says...

"Now you have the latest Firefox you won't have to worry about spelling mistakes. Firefox spell checker will fix them for you" (paraphrasing)

Although I wasn't worrying about them before, now it's starting to get to me. I tried running FF without add-ons, but it makes no difference. I can't find out how I can change it from 'English US' to 'English UK'? If I can't either stop it, or change it. I'll have to try to change it for an older version. Failing that, it will be bye bye FF. Anyone have any idea?
