A few months ago my PC failed to load. It wouldn't show any image on screen despite apparently booting up. As I couldn't see the image the graphics card was displaying this is only a guess but the PC sat idle with no obvious issues. Frustrated and unable to afford the cost of replacing monitors/parts I left it and recently returned to it.

I managed to get the thing working although during the boot process the PC now suggests that I have tried to over-clock the system (something I'd never do) and asked if I wanted to retain the BIOS settings. I said no and on re-boot it asks the same question again and again. I did a full format and reinstall and this didn't solve the problem.

Now, the image has failed again. I changed the graphics card (Radeon 5450 in now) and this worked fine. But yet again the display shows nothing and I cannot understand why this is happening. Every now and then it will load but usually the monitor just goes into standby and I can do no more.

I am of the view that either the BIOS or motherboard are in trouble but not sure. How do I fix something I cannot see?

I am stuck and would much appreciate some assistance on this please!
