I'm on the verge of buying a Nikon P500 HD, but I now use Pinnacle Studio Plus to edit video and pictures, which is not high definition. I would like to know if that means that if I have a high definition camera that I have to buy Pinnacle Studio High Definition or another brand name film editor. Thanks for any feedback I can get.

I believe the HD format will be different so you will need to update Pinnacle studio plus for the HD videos.
If you go to the Pinnacle web site I believe they have a forum that maybe able to give more advice on compatibility.

You might need to update your pc as well as HD editing is vey power hungry One point you may not be aware of is you can put HD without converting it onto a standard dvd albeit maybe only about 20mins this will play in mosy bluray players
