Hi all had a problem with my Dell XPS430 over the last couple of days, after a while i get lines across the screen and if stops responding completely and have to shut it down with the front button, upon restarting i have a screen with verticle dashes flickering/looking as it they are moving up the screen (like in the matrix)it starts to the Dell logo then often shuts down saying going into power saving mode, it can do this a couple of times then will load to windows and be fine for the rest of the day then it will shut down again then restart but all that i can see is the fan on the graphics card going at full bore and have to hard shut it down again. I have ran all the Dell diognostics and all come back as passed, i have installed Nirsoft Bluescreen viewer as i get the BSOD when it shuts itself down and this is the result, atikmdag.sys atikmdag.sys+1a97b 0x9100f000 0x917cd000 0x007be000 0x4ddc6b3c 25/05/2011 03:36:44 ATI Radeon Family ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver 7.01.01.821 ATI Technologies Inc. Sorry its a bit crammed in do you think the graphics card is on its way out? I have downloaded new drivers from the Radeon website and installed but to no avail, i have ran online scans and malwarebytes all come back clean, i did this because after each crash for want of a word i have to repetedly sign back into Yahoo and facebook and allso this site even all ticked to remember me. Dell XPS430 Windows Vista SP2 ATI Radeon HD 4670 512mb There its been running fine now for about a couple of hrs so far.

I'd guess you have a hardware problem rather than a software problem. A driver will report an error if it's not receiving back from the hardware what it expects.
