Blank screen help please

I was surfing the web and closed down a tab to a web site I did not want, when I did this all I got was a complete blank screen nothing on it and the only way I could get out was to switch off the comp completely. But when I tried to go into my web browser or any other web sites on my bookmarks I get the same blank screen. any Ideas what is wrong and how I can fix the problem please. I have done a virus scan which came up with nothing I have also done a system restore to a few days ago, but its still the same.

OK panic over, I managed to correct it don't ask me what I did I got a tiny screen up and clicked on resume or something like that and was back in business "Bloody Computers"
