Slow windows updates

My new laptop takes literally hours to update Windows. Task manager shows only 1% or 2% CPU activity. How can I speed it up?

My advice would be to update a few at a time. Sometimes trying to do too many together can cause problems. You could also change the way you do your updates - go to Control Panel - Windows Updates - If Automatic updates is selected you could change to "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them or not" - that gives you greater control over your updates.
