Printing on Retro cd-r discs

Hi all, I recently bought some Retro cd-r discs, which state they are printabl.(they are black with a white hub,like an old record) But when I put them in my printer (Epson R285) of which I have no problem printing on ordinary printable discs, they are sent back out and ask for a disc to be inserted, I think it is because the printer can not see the black part of the disc. How can I print on them. Cheers, Flobby
