Laptop won't connect

I have just got a laptop and am having problems connecting to wi-fi at home.

Desktop has no problem, iphone connects ok.

When connecting laptop says 'taking longer than usual, connected with limited connectivity'. 'Connected to router but not to internet'.

I ran a diagnosis check which said to unplug router and laptop, then leave for a few seconds then try again. It connected ok, but I shouldn't have to do this each time, should I?

I have not added anything to settings on the laptop.

Very frustrating, hope someone can help.

In your Network & Sharing Center you can try deleting your Network Adapter and then Set Up a New Network Connection.

You should have HOME Network selected if you are only using it at Home.

I think this has worked. Connected straight away after logging off. Will try logging off and on again.

THANKS

Are you sure that the laptop is wifi enabled? Sometimes there is a switch on edge of laptop to turn wifi on/off.

It might help if we new make and model of laptop.

I'm getting fed up now. After unplugging router, the laptop connected fine to the wi-fi. I have just turned off laptop and turned on again. Is again showing limited connectivity!!!!!!!!

There is a wi-fi button next to the on/off button which is on. No problem connecting, just says limited. Unless I unplug and replug router.

Laptop is Packard Bell Easynote MH36

Try this -

Follow the instructions I gave you at 12.08pm and from the Command Prompt type in the Command Black Box the following

netsh winsock reset catalog - followed by Return Key

then

netsh int ip reset reset.log - followed by Return Key

Reboot your Laptop
