Windows Live Mail

I have Windows Live Mail for my email service now, but I find it a nuisance that the emails are linked. This may seem like a good idea, but I miss the odd reply because it looks as if I have read it in the emails that are altogether - even though they are bold font! Can this be changed? geedad
