Pen drive keeps shutting down and opening in Windows 7

I have a usb pen drive which I store my passwords on. It works fine on my two machines that are running Windows XP and when inserting the dialogue box pops up to ask waht action I need to take. However, when I put the same usb pen drive into my laptop which runs Windows 7 the dialogue box sometimes opens and is stable so I can click on an action but at oterh times just keeps opening and closing the dialogue box without any action being taken. Is there a way I can stop this from happening?
