I have many dvd-rw's which were recorded from tv. When I try to play them on my windows 7 computer they show as empty. What do I need to do to get them to play?

If they play OK on the machine which recorded them but not anywhere else they probably need finalising. You should be able to do this on the DVD recorder.

As said finalising that is if you made a dvd video looks as if you made a dvd VR which is not the same

Thanks marvin42,that does the trick. However,if anyone else has this problem then be aware that finalising a disc makes it playback only. You can make the disc recordable again by reformatting it on your recorder, but reformatting wipes the disc clean so you will lose all of your recordings PERMANENTLY. Thanks again marvin42.
