Windows XP Update does not install

I have WinXP,Firefox 4.01,Antivir 10.00.648 and Windows Firewall. Everything was OK until about 6 days ago. The only major change I think has been upgrading to Firefox 4.01. Windows Automatic Update is turned on. Update KB2446704 repeatedly appears as awaiting installation. I install it. It says installation OK. But whenever I restart computer the Update is still not installed. What is wrong ?

Appears to be general problems with thislink text

I can't even get into the Win update site.
