CPU FAN NOT WORKING

Hi Guys, I have been using a p4 system with 1gbram,40gbhd with no problems,WIN XP. Last time it could not come on when i press the on power button.I opened the system to find out the fan on the cpu is not turning. I replaced it and still it does not turn.All the lights come on but nothing appears on the screen,No post,just black screen. Kindly assist me as to what to do next. It is a NEC Pc. Thanks a lot

Most likely PSU failure

However 1st try booting with just motherboard cpu and fan and one stick of memory and graphics card (if not onboard graphics).

Leave Hard drive and DVD drives disconnected make sure nothing in usb ports. It may then boot to an error message

If still same swap RAM sticks and retry.

If still same the PSU, mother board, or Cpu is faulty. PSU is cheapest item to replace first (Yes lights may still come on if PSU has failed (lights require very little power.
