connect laptop to pc

hi.i have a acer one laptop and a fairly new lg tv i can get picture from my laptop to tv using a vga cable (input rgb) however the audio comes threw my tv but not on input rgb but on (input component). the audio cable im using is a audio y cable. any suggestions? thanks

I don't really understand but a VGA cable does not carry sound.

Your thread title says "connect laptop to pc" but do you mean "laptop to tv"?

Do you have picture and sound on your TV with your current set up?

sorry yes laptop to tv.yes the tv picks up the picture threw the vga fine but the sound comes threw onto my tv threw a different input i.e if you use you dvd player you change tv input. thanks

Make and model of both laptop and TV may help to identify the problem.

You should be connecting to RGB In (D-sub 15pin) - PC

the problem is the sound comes out on a differnt channel ie, (av 1) instead of (av 2) so just want to know if the audio y cable (jack one side, red and white connection the other side)is the correct cable
