Windows 7 update problem

Hello,

I've posted here a few times and come back again for some much appreciated help! :)

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on my PC. When I turn my PC on it attempts to do a Windows update but gets stuck on 0% for approximately 5 minutes. It then fails and aborts the update, reverts to how it originally was and allows me to log into windows.

This 5 minute wait to turn on my PC is quite annoying and i'd like to fix the problem.

Could someone please help me to do this.

NB - I'm a relative novice at PCs so please bare this in mind if you want to help me.

Regards,

Richard
