Freecause.com

I have suddenly started to get a new tab opening for no reason that I can think of.

It is for Freecause.com with a message "DNS error".

It just happens occasionally and appears easy to close down.

Any idea where this has come from and how I can stop it?

Don't know what browser you use but check in your addons for Freecause.com toolbar or similar. Disable. Download the free version of superantispyware

Let it protect your home page (make sure it's your own homepage first)!. Update and run a full scan.
