Tired Keyboard

Can they get Tired on a Laptop as I find my HP Laptop not always putting letters in. and if I do not check it looks like bad spelling. I have to be more positive in pressing the keys

Can get dirt under them.

Depends on kind of keyboard, the old membrane ones got quite bad as the contacts filmed with age

think this laptop is about 4 years old With XP Home on it, its the HP 510 With Centrino 2.13GHz cpu

Have a couple of laptops that are over 10 years old and still work fine

I'm no expert but a while back I watched someone, in a small Computer Shop, lift the keyboard of a laptop, dust the underside with a paint brush and clean the membrane with a Wet Wipe, it was filthy.

I have no idea whether this is possible in the case of your lappy but it might be worth looking into.
