Dell Laptop Charging problem

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and have problems with it not charging via the mains adaptor. I've replaced the adaptor twice (it then works for several days and stops) and I'm at my wits end as the battery level is now down to 15%. I'm using Vista Home Premium. Any help would be gratefully received!

When I had a similar problem with my Acer laptop, it proved to be a poor connection to mobo.

Yes, the socket is soldered to the mobo, and can be damaged or become loose. If the light adjacent to the socket flickers as you wiggle the plug, that is the probable cause. They're not too difficult to strip down with the help of a service manual if you are confident and have suitable skills and tools.link text

Thanks for help and suggestions. The light is not flickering at all even when I wiggle the input plug and cable which made me think that area was ok. Will have a look at the link that 'onthelimit1' suggests.
