windows 7 redirecting

A friend has a windows 7 laptop that has been running for over a year with no internet security. I have cleaned the laptop and found over 100 trojans and viruses. The laptop is running better except that most search requests entered via IE 8 or Mozilla Firefox browsers redirect the search request to an advert site, but not all the time. Both Malewarebytes and Macafee show the laptop as not infected. Search engine used is Google in both browsers. Can anyone come up with a solution to this problem. Many thanks

maybe give this a try.
- Turn off computer ,then turn on and start tapping F8
- When the Advanced startup options appear Select Safe mode With Networking
- Open internet explorer goto google.com ,download Hitman pro "32-bit or 64-bit depending on your Os"
- Run Hitman pro ,let this scan the computer
- Activate Free Licence
- Reboot Pc
