Home Page will not display correctly

Help please I am unable to get my home page to display ie when the page is on screen the x at the top right hand side of the page is not shown. In addition my desk top is also not displayed correctly with the side bars half missing I have windows vista home premium on ie 8 have tried windows fix it,,system restore tried to google the answer,,,all to no avail Your assistance would be appreciated

Try pressing F11 to see if you get the screen the proper size again.
