Connecting 2 pc's for filesharing

I want to know how to connect a laptop and notebook for filesharing of music etc.(the former running on Windows XP, the latter Windows 7). I'm a real novice, but I'm aware this can be done either wired or wirelessly - which is the best and easiest way and what are the steps? I have a BT homehub 2.0 which I'm using wirelessly, so I have a spare ethernet cable (if this can be used for wired connection). Any easy to follow advice gratefully received.

There are help files on your PC that may give the answer or ask on the BT Forum click here
