Realtek8139 driver

I recently upgraded from WIN98SE to Windows 2000 to allow me to upgrade to IE7 and access BBC iPlayer.
My desktop BB speed has halved, although a connected wireless laptop still gives the higher speed.
I have re-installed the Realtek8139 driver, to no avail.
My provider is BT. Is there anything in the setup BT CD that I would need to Load?
Any other ideas?

Windows 2000 generally uses same drivers as XP

Instead of using IE7 why not try Firefox, as you may get a better speed.
