multi language website

am new to web design, but i would like to build a website that has 2 languages english and german if it was possible to add chinese as well this would be great.

i know this is probably beyond me but i need to know mechanism then i can study further.

thanks for any help

The concept would be fairly simple I think, but a lot of extra work.

One Home Page on which (among the usual things) the user can choose in which language to view your site, via a flag hyperlink (for example).

Each different language website would be contained in a different folder on your host's server and the flag hyperlink would go to the relevant folder.

Yes that's what I do on a couple of sites - one with three languages. It's the easiest way.
