Has anyone used bt webclicks? I signed up to them at £80per month as they are supposed to take all the time optimising google adwords off your back and they also guarantee a certain number of click throughs per year or your money back.

It sounds like a win win deal. However I just got my report back for last month and received no click throughs at all - and this is traditionally the month for peak enquiries in my business [wedding catering and marquees]. They are obviously under bidding because key words are probably too expensive at this time of year.

I find the whole business very fishy. I should be interested to hear of other readers experiences.

but I've read plenty about the service, and from that I've concluded that I wouldn't feel confident recommending it to any of my clients.

I too have signed up for webclicks. I was always suspicious of this as they never really give you a contract and your invoice says 'directory book' even though you are not advertising in a directory. My programme report came through and they said that I had 103 clicks to my website through the keyword search of 'BT Exchanges'. This apparently is one of the 'key phrases our team of advertising copywriters have selected to drive traffic to your website' - I dont know how -I am a waxing salon and I dont even feature on the directory! There are so many failings on this I havent the room to tell but I am considering a complaint to trading standards!

Im an internet marketer, this is my job , in the past I gave adwords consulting to many companies.

All these "semi-automated" sites are not professionl period.

If you want to create an efficient campaign that will eventually convert into paying costumers you need to be an expert, an expert wont charge you £80per month!

So, what you got is a low price for 0 results. Even if you would get clicks, it would say nothing. Will those click convert? I doubt that.

If you are serioud about online advertising, learnt it seriously or hire a pro.

Since my original posting in February, things have not improved. I get very few click throughs and it is very difficult to get to speak to anyone. Worst still you cannot cancel as you are committed for a year.
Although they guarantee a certain number of click throughs in a year I am sure they will up their bids towards the end of the contract so that in the last month I will get a lot of click throughs to make up the shortfalls.

Hi i am a cattery owner in devon and i joined bt clicks last july, what a joke!! this is a complete rip off i have never received one call with a whisper of "bt clicks" i have stopped my direct debit to them and written to bt and ofcom , ofcom will investigate if they get enough complaints so please write to them

Jane, Good idea I will write to Ofcom.

Be careful about cancelling your direct debit as I think you would have signed up for a year and as it is a b2b arrangement you have no consumer protection. I did this with another internet marketing shark ['ufindus'] not realising it was a 1 year contract which renewed itself annually unless you gave 3 months notice. It got expensive and very unpleaseant.

Your Debt, for however long you signed up for, will be transferred to a Debt Collecting Agency and you risk damage to your Credit rating.

I am tempted to agree with you, that generic promotions are fairly ineffective, along with the local Fire Brigade/Police Force Diaries and free Street Maps.

You do your job well and pay someone, who specialises in (web) promotion, to do their's. It usually works.

I agree with that has already been said on the subject of Direct Debit agreements. You shouldn't cancel such an agreement without first discussing the matter with the payee; if you do, you may find your credit score is adversely affected.

HI I WROTE ON THIS SITE IN JANUARY RE BT CLICKS, I HAVE TAKEN THEM ON AND WON!!!! I STOPPED MY DIRECT DEBITS AND WROTE A LETTER TO BT CLICKS AND OFFCOM STATING WHAT THE PROBLEMS WERE AND SAID I HAD BEEN "MISS SOLD" THE PRODUCT AS IT WOULD NEVER WORK FOR ME AND I HAD NOT RECEIVED ONE CALL I HAVE BEEN REFUNDED ALL MY MONIES AND THE ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CLOSED. YOU MUST WRITE AND SEND COPY TO OFFCOM, THEY WILL INVESTIGATE IF THEY RECEIVE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS, I AM A SMALL BUSINESS LIKE ALOT OF YOU BE BRAVE!!! YOU CAN WIN

well done janeclarkekemp, I admire your persistence. I'm afraid I did not persist like you as the pain of the rip off gets less as time passes and the memory fades. We need more people like you to persue these kind of things.
