Hi
I have Snippng Tool, Win 7, and find it very useful BUT how is it that some people seem to be able to draw on a very neat rectangle, or circle/oval to point out something on the capture?
However hard I try, mine is always at least a bit wiggly!!!
Maybe others are using a different program from Snipping Tool that comes with Windows???
Thanks very much for any suggestions
Cheers

By the side of "NEW" you will see a downpointing arrow - this gives you four options Freeform, rectangular, window and full screen. Try those.

Hi Compumac
Thanks for your suggestion but I don't have a down-pointing arrow for a dropdown box on mine.
See here for my screen dump of it Screen">http://imageshack.us/photo/m">Screen dump
Perhaps it's a different version or something?

Click on Snipping Tool - Click the area where you want to start clipping, release your mouse and the "New" option will show with the arrow.

Hi dangerus1
Thanks for your response.
I think maybe I haven't put my question very well.
I do get a dropbox with New, when I first open Snipping Tool but this is to select what type of border is wanted for the capture, ie draw it free hand, a rectangle, the whole window or whole screen.
What I would like to be able to do is to draw straight lines, proper circles, arrows etc when annotating the capture. When I do this using my mouse, my lines are not very straight.
I have seen in other places, mainly another forum, where the arrow, or place on the capture has a very square line around, not wiggly like I manage.
Perhaps these people have a touch pad and can use a ruler!!!
I've done another capture and drawn on it. You will see how my lines aren't very straight. The border of the capture is not a problem, as used the setting for rectangular capture.
Again, thanks for all suggestions.
Cheers

Hi Chronus
Thanks for this suggestion. I think this is what I will go with when I want to mark on a Snipped piece. It's a good work-around. Maybe, one day, MS will add such features to Snipping Tool, or come up with an equivalent? I won't hold my breath though.
So, this is what I can now achieve, using Snipping tool and then put into Paint.
Thanks again, Chronus, dangerus1 and compumac. I'm very grateful for all your help and suggestions

yep that looks better, glad I could help. The only reason I knew about doing this via paint as I needed to put arrows in a image of a motherboard and then a screen-shot with instructions.
