Hi Guys, slight printer problem. I have an HP F4580, (which works perfectly), but fancied an upgrade. So I bought an HP 4500. I've installed this onto my PC. The idea was to install the HP F4580 onto the wife's PC. The software loaded OK, but the new hardware wizard pops up and just kind of flickers on the screen. For ages.I've left it doing this for four hours and no joy. Seems the PC doesn't recognise the printer. The PC in question runs Windows XP. Please advise. the wife's giving me grief. Needs the printer for course work asap!

Sometimes, these things can be picky about whether you install the software first, or plug in the hardware first, or plug in the hardware at a specific time during the installation. Are you sure you're getting it right? (e.g. if you plugged the printer in before installing the software, you might want to try installing the software before plugging it in). It's a small chance...

Thanks Ian. I followed the prompts and plugged in usb when told to do so. Basically did what I was instructed to do. I'll try uninstalling the software then plugging printer in first.I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again. Tobi
