Dell Latitude D630 BIOS password stops OS install

I have a Dell Latitude D630 and the previous owner has input a BIOS password and although I can change the boot sequence at startup by using the F keys I cannot do a fresh OS install because of the BIOS password is 'locking' me out.
Any ideas?

Get the password off the previous owner.

A backdoor password may get you in and thn you can reset it.

"Get the password off the previous owner"

By a strange coincidence I had thought of that one!
If I had been successful I would not be posting on here but TY anyway.

Thats your best bet

you may be lucky to get in with a backdoor password

to have the BIOS chip replaced is expensive.

My laptop has a BIOS password and I have tried almost everything and anything to be rid of it including just about every link on this and other forums.

What most suggest is removing the COMOSS battery. How long you leave the battery out for seems to be a matter of debate. This seems to work for some but apparently is more difficult on a laptop.

I dare say I will still have the pesky password when my computer comes to the end of it`s life,

I am given to understand that MEDION computers are in fact produced by some other company and then re badged as MEDION. If I knew the name of the actual manufacturer of MEDION computers it would be easier for my to find a master password so as to bypass the one now on my computer.

So anyone know the name of whoever it is that actually makes MEDION computers.

Your motherboard is what you are interested in
Its likely to be an MSI board and will use Award or Phoenix BIOS

When you first switch on you will see the BIOS logo top left of screen
