lost my dvd-rw drive

Since I installed DVD Flick and ConvertXtoDVD yesterday I have lost my DVD-RW drive, I have uninstalled both progammes but still won't recocognize a disc that I put into the drive etc so I can't burn any disc's at the moment! or eraze a DVD-RW

Operating System?
Is the drive shown in My Computer or Device Manager?

Sorry XP Home and yes you can see DVD-RW Drive (I:) my computer

A system Restore to before you installed the programs might work.

Hey MAJ I tried that twice before posting will try again though might remove the drive and try in another PC

That was my next suggestion, mik61ish, it could be a coincidence that the drive died just as you installed the programs. It has to be ruled out at least.

I have replaced my DVD-RW as the Pioneer DVD 105 a had stopped working I replaced it with a HP Lightscribe and now its taking about 5 minutes to boot up I have removed the Nero incd etc from start up (msconfig) but it takes ages to start up now?
