Scanner probs

A friend has just bought a new pc with 2gb ram. We have installed a new printer, canon mp190, prints fine but when trying to scan an error message appears 'insufficient memory'. We've uninstalled, reinstalled a couple of times to no avail. Any ideas?

Check the scanner software setting for where it is set to store the scans by default, change it to a folder on your hard drive where there is plenty of free space, also check the default scan resolution if in doubt set it in the range 150/300 dots per inch,then try a preview scan of a picture say 6 x 4 inch before you go for a full scan
