Your computer has corrupted your default search setting

This started happening two or three days ago out of the blue. This would suddenly pop open no matter what I was doing.

"A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider.

Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers."

Nothing I do can prevent it randomly occurring. Help!

Followed your suggestion which took just under 20 minutes (some 250,000 files) and, touch wood, so far no reappearance of that irritating window. Let's hope I've not jumped the gun!
