XVID and pool paradise

Just a quick question.

Pool Paradise tries to install an old version of the xvid codec, I have the latest version of the codec from xvid.org already on the machine. I need it for some vids that I have.

If I allow it to install the old codec the game runs perfectly but causes "COM surrogate" has stopped working errors in Windows. This ultimately ends in Explorer crashing and restarting.

If I don't allow the install the game doesn't work properly, why can't I have both?

Is Xvid not backwards/forwards compatible?

Anyone? I'd like to play this game without the windows errors.

you could look here for a possible fix for the com surrogate problem.

Cheers, it only appears because Pool Paradise installs an old xvid codec even though there's an uptodate version on the computer. If I remove the old codec the game will not run. If I leave the old codec I get COM surrogate errors but the game works.

The other solutions do not work for me, except to remove the game and that's what I have done.
