Windows Media Player Problem

Hi - Samsung Laptop running Win7 Home Premium. Media Player has stopped working in that it sits with a blank screen for the duration of the clip - if you click on it (or any of its controls), it whites out and 'not responding' appears next to the Media Player label. If you leave it alone it 'plays' the video (no picture or sound) and then re-runs it - playing the video normally.

I tried to uninstall/repair it via Control Panel/software, but I can't find it listed. Any idea on where it's hiding?
