In Windows Explorer, I can't open folders by double clicking then any more. I can still open them by expanding then pointing to collapsed sub folders etc. Double clicking folders within an application also still works.

Any suggestions anyone?

a couple of options ,if it only started happening recently ,try system restore to a date just before it started happening . have you altered any folder option settings. in a folder click on "organize" select folder and search options . try restoring defaults under both the general and View tabs. you may have installed some program recently that uses its own method of browsing or navigating ,that may have altered some registry settings ,if so try uninstalling any recent programs that you may suspect. very rarely ,explorer .exe gets broken (corrupted) either system restore or find the explorer .exe (windows folder)right click it and select previous versions ,if your lucky you will have one you can restore to, and just restore that (explorer.exe) without having to use system restore and restore everything .
