Hi,

I know that my computer will run windows Vista, this is because I will be getting my upgrade to home basic hopefully ( been 5 months now)

Anyway What I might be doing is getting Home Premium in the long run. However I will only get it if I can get the aero interface.

Does anyone know how I can find out wheather I will be able to run it.

Thanks
Ben

1GB DDR 2 Ram
1.60 GHZ dual Core

Looking on Dell's website you have the Intel GMA950 which I beleive will run Aero (how well I don't know, Intel are poor with their integrated graphics).

I think you're borderline with Aero - is your 256MB of graphics memory in addition to your 1GB of system RAM or does it share it?If it's shared, I suspect your machine will struggle with Aero.

it is not shared 256mb graphics and 1gb ram

You should be fine, then. But run the upgrade adviser anyway.

I must have looked at the wrong Inspiron 6400, you may not have the GMA950 but either the ATi mobility X1400 or Nvidia 7300go, both of which should run Aero.

Not sure that there are Vista drivers yet for the Nvidia Go series - run the upgrade adviser.

I am running home built comp with sempron 3400+ 1.81 Ghz 1GB ram 150 Gb hard drive Radeon X550 nothing real high end, and upgraded from XP pro to Buisness and everything works great. (so Far) No problems with Aero.

Best of luck
hopefully after 5 months you recieve you Copy of Vista
