windows 8 wont load printer.

Just got a new pc with windows 8 on, trying to load printer of old pc (windows xp) but keep getting message ..disk with unsupported format.. on disk it says for windows xp,vista and 7 does that actually mean I have to buy a new printer to work on windows 8. cheers

If it's just the CD you're having problems with then try running in compatibility mode to install. Insert the CD and press the shift key to stop it loading. Open file explorer then This PC. Right click the CD and select Troubleshoot compatibility. Once the wizard runs, select Troubleshoot program, select The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now. Then select the version of Windows it did run on, but you can try again for another version.

Hopefully 32-bit and 64-bit isn't the issue.
