Windows 8 staying on start screen

After installing Norton, my laptop re-booted, then stayed on the start screen, but without the logon box. There is no cursor on the screen, and pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del does nothing. I tried re-starting but still nothing. This is a fairly new laptop, and I did not get the Windows 8 CD, nor any recovery CDs. What can I do?

If you haven't had time to create the 'back to factory DVD's' or the recovery disc in 8 then you might be able to do it via the recovery partition. Google how to boot to the recovery partition for your particular laptop.

If you're successful send a word to Norton about your problem.
