Windows 7 versus & RC and XP 63 bit

  joeartis 19 Nov 09

After testing Windows 7 Beta and RC on my wife's machine we decided to buy two copies of the full release, to install in place of the RC (on her machine) and XP (on my machine). Since the install we have noticed that Windows 7 is slower that either the BC / RC version and XP Pro. Both machines, apart from the Cases, LAN Cards and Graphics Cards are identical:

Motherboard: ASUS M2N4-SLI
CPU: AMD ATHLON 64x2 4200+ Core speed 2211 MHz
RAM: 2 x 2Gb DDR2 PC5300

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thank you.

i have found boot up times well faster than vista or xp. but general computing vista being the fastest of the three.

defrag the registry helps with boot times. and a good optimised defrag of the hdd is better than the windows one.

for defrag of the registry i use winaso

run the reg checker first to clear old entries.

for the hdd i use jk mydefrag

both above are free to use.
