Win 8 sound problem

My daughter has a Lenovo G580 laptop running on Win 8. She said the sound just stopped working. I have updated the drivers, uninstalled then reinstalled the correct drivers for the Realtek high definition audio sound card, but no joy. When I go to control panel and click on manage audio devices I get a pop up saying "Windows audio service is not enabled". Can anyone help with this.

type services.msc

in the search box and press enter

scroll down to the windows Audio service click and set start up method to Automatic and click start.

see if that solves the problem.

Hi Fruit bat,

She has 2-

1 Windows Audio- When I click the start tab I get an error 1068 pop up.

2 Windows Audio Endpoint Builder- When I click the start tab I get error 193:0xc1

Both are set to automatic with service status saying stopped.
