vista wont run my restore cd - please help

My friend has a new asus laptop running windows vista.

His bluetooth stopped working today and the tech support initially said to reinstall the drivers which we could not find on the driver disk.

Then they said that it might be a hardware problem covered by the first 10 days replacement option for the laptop and just to make sure we should insert the restore cd and if the bluetooth still did not work then they would just replace the unit.

The cd will not autorun when inserted and there is no obvious command when browsed.

Help please.

Are there any instructions with the restore disc? I imagine you need to boot from it, but check that.

what instructons - there was no documentation with the laptop.

We are going to put the cd back in and restart me laptop now to see if it boots into the cd

that had no effect.

there is no bios indicator on startup - is it likely to be del or f10?

we might need to change the boot order I suppose

Possibly delete - try it, though if you watch as it boots it will tell you which key to hit to enter the bios, or setup. Change the boot order to make the CD drive first.

We tried that but there was no indicator what key it was.

We just googled the laptop model and it appears to be the esc key.

we have now changed the boot order to boot from the cd drive and windows is loading files.

we'll keep you all informed.

its now doing the recovery thing.

Thanks for your help - I suppose the thread has been resolved although it has not yet cured the original problem yet.

did 100% recovery then it asked for the driver cd which he has left at home.

oh well - tomorrow is another day.

Ha, well, glad you're clear on the process anyway. Better luck tomorrow!
