Vista will not start

Have vista home premium on a acer laptop. No vista disc as it came preinstalled. Earlier today downloaded a video from BBC iplayer. It froze on completion. I had to hold down the power button to switch off.

On restart I had an error message about vista start failure, hardware or software change being the cause, with 2 options.
1 - Launch startup repair
2 - Start normally

both get to the MS corp stage & freeze.

Have tried downloading a boot disc from the net which also does not work. Have tried from HD on boot menu. Have also tried F8 at start up for safe modes and pc repair, again no joy.

Any help would be great.

I assume that you have changed the boot order to cd/dvd,put disk in then rebooted?

Hi morgani85,

Have you tried ALT + F10 at post to start the acer recovery utility.
