Vista Wants Two Partitions?

  Thalmus 12:27 08 Feb 07

I've installed Vista Ultimate on my computer that had 4 unpartioned disks.

When I came to install it I partitioned off 50 GB on one of the disks for the operating system. However vista said it needed another partition to install, it then proceeded to create a full partition (250 GB) on another disk and then only used about 110 MB of it. Looking on the disk I don't see any system files, only some folders.

Any one else experienced this? Anyone know why it is doing this? Anyway to make it just use the 50 GB partition?

I think it's best to reinstall but before you do, try out the 'shrink' command in Vista :-

Right-click Computer, Manage, Disk Mngt then right-click the Vista partition and choose Shrink.

The only folder of any note is a hidden one called "boot" with sub folders of different languages each with a file called "bootmgr.exe.mui"

Where do you guys have this folder?

I have about 8 files in the Boot folder, bootmgr (not .exe) is a separate file in the root folder.
