Vista resolution problem

I have Vista Home Premium installed on my Dell XPS M1210 laptop. Every time I open the lid and come out of standby the resolution reverts to 1024x768. I find this annoying because it stretches the display and some of it is cut off. I contacted Dell who advised me to install any outstanding BIOS and video drivers from their website which I've done. The problem is still occurring and Dell say it is a problem with Vista which can only be resolved once an update is brought out. Has anybody heard of this problem and know if what Dell says is true? Are there any fixes I could try rather than waiting for an update?

My specs are:

Intel Core 2 CPU T7200
1024MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
Intel Media Accelerator 950 Graphics Up to 256MB shared graphics memory
12.1" WXGA (1280x800) TFT Display with TrueLife

Thanks in advance,

No I have not but I find your system perhaps on the edge of meeting the Vista system requirements given your shared graphics RAM. click here It may not be associated with RAM but it's useful to compare specs with MS recommendations.

To be honest, I wouldn't use standby. Shut it down properly and reboot it when you need it.
