Vista Protected Mode

  LinH 19:45 25 Feb 07

I mistakenly posted this in another thread so many apologies for my stupidity.

I have Vista Home Premium and have noticed that if I have Protected Mode enabled in the Internet Zone, Internet Explorer will not run. Disable it and Internet Explorer runs fine.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Have you any ad blocking software running?

Hi daconnor,

Thanks for your response.

No, I don't have any ad blocking software running, only the various blocking features in IE - phishing and pop up blockers. other than these I have Windows' native firewall and anti-spyware running plus Avast anti-virus, only the latter being non-Microsoft

There's probably an easy answer but I haven't managed to figure it out as yet.

Do you have your internet security setting on high?

Hi flowerpotman,

No, all the settings are as set by default. Strange one isn't it?

Many thanks.
