(I say v6500, as that is what the system properties say, but the actual machiene says v6000)

It came with vista premium, but i hate it and want to downgrade to windows xp home - i had it on my last computer, and i don't use that any more, so i will use the reg code from there and i have a setup disk...

Will it work?
How do i do it?

Please help me,

Thank, Will

Go to the manufacturers website and download XP drivers for the machine.

Use google to get a free edition of Kill Disk. Burn this as an ISO and boot the computer with the disk in.

Format the drive that has the Vista O\S.

Restart the computer with the XP disk in and load XP.

Load the XP drivers.

Fin.

Or put your xp drvers onto cd or pen drive, and boot from xp cd.

Rubbish would have been a more suitable word(which it isent)

Your key will fail to validate unless it's a retail copy.

As Lisa02 says, if your copy of XP came supplied with a previous machine you cannot use it on this new machine. You must purchase a full retail copy otherwise you break the terms of the license and it probably will not validate.

Whats wrong with Vista anyway. I have it on three machines and its superior to XP in every department.
Why on earth go back to something that is now history.

I agree with you.I went down that road and went back to XP,found i dident like it as much as Vista,so reinstalled Vista. It just wasent worh the hassle of reinstalling drivers etc etc.
