Vista PC will not wake up after sleep?

My new Vista Premium PC from Evesham will not 'wake up' if I put it into sleep mode, (I have to press the power button until it goes off) I've looked at the BIOS but am unsure what to do. There is no documentation from Evesham on this. Any help gratefully received.

Sleep is always a dodgy option in any version of Windows - looks as though Vista is continuing a long tradition. Shut it down, don't put it to sleep.

Control Panel, System and maintenance, Power options. I have all mine disabled by having a custom plan.

Choose create plan from the left and set things how you wish.

Thankyou anskyber. I've done that and will dispense with sleep in future.
