vista defrag takes hours??

hi, why does it take forever to do a defrag in vista, its the same on my laptop and pc, very slow, anyway how can i speed it up?

If you have got Vista SP1 and it's still slow consider one of the many third part defraggers.

I use Ashampoo WinOptimizer, which came on a recent PCA DVD.Very fast indeed.

Yeah, Vista's defrag is quite slow. It runs as a low priority process in the background, and I suspect the defrag algorithms are not the fastest around.

For faster defrag, you'll need a third party defragger. When I used to have Vista, I ran Diskeeper 2009 Pro on it. It's not free, but is an excellent defragger, and it's automatic background defrag mode is very fast yet efficient.
