Vista compatibility

I'm going to buy a lap top today..

It will obviously have Vista on it but will the games that I have on my PC at home (XP) be compatible with it? As a guess I would say the fabulously old ones I've got maybe wouldn't be like Rollcage, Music 2000 and Hitman. But what about the slightly newer ones like Half Life 2, Morrowind and Oblivion?

If a game is designed for XP, will it run using Vista?

Also, I have an external hard drive plugged into my home PC with a load of photos on it. Would I be able to simply unplug said drive from my home PC and plug it into the laptop and hence transfer the photos?

HL2 and Oblivion are fine, dunno about Morrowmind but it should be OK. But a laptop won't be the greatest way to experience those games - are you sure the laptop is up to it?

Yeah, just plug in the external HDD and Vista will find it and deal with it.
