Hi
I have just received a Samsung NC10 Netbook for xmas which is pre installed with Windows XP. I currently have a Sony Vaio FE41Z laptop which runs Windows Vista. I have found a way of transferring files from XP to Vista using Windows Easy transfer but not the other way. Is it possible to transfer files from Vista to XP. I will probably upgrade the Netbook to Windows 7 in the near future so would I be better off doing the transfer then?
Thanks for you help!

I've never used Windows Easy Transfer and I don't know how you've got the computers connected, but you can transfer files from Vista to XP with conventional networking.

If the two computers are connected, either directly by "crossover" ethernet cable or via a Network Switch/Router, then you can set any folders in XP that you want to have available over the network as "shared" by right clicking and selecting the Sharing & Security option. Once "shared" you should be able to access them from "Network" (My network places) in Vista. If you're running any third-party firewall software in XP, such as Zone Alarm, this will need to be configured to allow access to the networked computers.

If the files that you want to transfer are simply data files (documents, photos, music files, etc.) then you could just copy them on to any removable media - a USB stick, DVD or whatever - and then copy them from that on to the XP machine.
