Some questions about Vista upgrade

  Jamfocus 17:06 31 Dec 06

I am buying a new computer next month. I did choose I computer which had a upgrade to Vista Basic. But I then found you can get a upgrade to home premium for only £8 postage and packaging if you change the specs slightly and pay about £40 more. I have a few questions about this deal...

1) Is it worth going from basic to premium? Is there a lot of difference?

2) Will the Premium edition work well the below?

Intel® Viiv™ Core™ 2 Duo E6400 Processor(2.13GHz, 1066MHz, 2MB)
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
VISTA UPGRADE MCE to Vista Premium Upgrade on: click here before 03/31/07
Dell™ 19" Value Flat Panel monitor
2048MB Dual Channel DDR2 533MHz [2x1024] Memory
320GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 8MB DataBurst™ cache
16x DVD +/- RW Drive
256MB ATI® Radeon® X1300 Pro graphics card

3) When I claim the upgrade will the copy of Premium Vista be in the offical windows box etc. No catch or anything with the upgrade?

And not totally related to Vista, but makes sense to add it here instead of a making new topic. Do I need a remote control to use Windows XP Media Center Edition? There was something about it when crating the system online and its confused me.

Many thanks for any answers.

1 Yes it is. click here

2 It should do, it seems to meet the Premium spec in my link.

3 The upgrade scheme is perfectly legitimate and if it is a Dell you are thinking of you should be fine.
